Chief Richard Ganci has devoted 40 years to the fire service, making a significant impact on the safety and training of St. Petersburg Fire Rescue personnel. Since 2018, he has served as the Division Chief of Safety & Training where he continues to lead with passion. His considerable qualifications include a degree in fire science, CPSE CFO, CTO, and CEMSO designations, MIFireE and numerous certifications. He has extensive experience in Special Operations & USAR and has held many leadership roles including Engine and Truck Operator, Company Officer, Training Officer, and District Chief, prior to accepting his current position.
Chief Ganci’s expertise extends to Command & Control, Officer Development, behavioral health, and CISM. He is the Chairperson of the Pinellas County Training Chiefs Group and the West Central Florida Training Chief’s Group, a contributing member to a multitude of training and behavioral health committees in the county and state and regularly serves as an instructor on a variety of subjects.
Outside of his professional life, Chief Ganci is supported by his wife of almost 40 years, Violet, and their two children, Krystina and Joseph. His family mirrors his dedication to service, with Krystina pursuing a career in Emergency Nursing and Joseph following in his footsteps as a fire/medic with Hillsborough County Fire Rescue. He also is the proud grandfather of four.
